ADHD Primary Care Connect

We are piloting a new way to support patients with ADHD, helping deliver assessments to adults aged 18+ through neighbourhood teams in Crawley, supported by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.  This neighbourhood-level pilot aligns with the Crawley Integrated Community Team (ICT), ensuring the model is tested within a local, integrated setting. The pilot aims to simplify patient access, reduce pressure on specialist services and provide a consistent, trusted NHS pathway that sits alongside existing routes.

For patients, the service means quicker access to an assessment pathway delivered by trained NHS clinicians, with support tailored to individual needs and closer coordination between GP practices, mental health services and local community organisations. The project sits within the Sussex‑wide Primary Care Provider Collaborative (PCPC) and is jointly delivered by three GP federations – Alliance for Better Care, Brighton & Hove Federation and Integrated Family Healthcare (Hastings) – to provide a consistent approach across the county.

The pilot accepts new referrals and a limited number of suitable patients from existing waiting lists. We have 12 practices across three of our PCNs participating in referrals, aiming to help to manage demand by ensuring assessments are delivered locally, with training, supervision and escalation support from Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT). The learning gained during this phase will shape how ADHD services develop across Sussex as the model expands through 2026.
