Culturally connected care
We work closely with the Chagossian community in Crawley to address the unique challenges they face in accessing healthcare and support services.
Through trusted community outreach and strong local partnerships, we provide advocacy and navigation support to individuals and families—many of whom experience language barriers, digital exclusion, and uncertainty around entitlement to care. Our approach ensures that people can access GP services, screenings, and specialist care with confidence and dignity.
We offer tailored assistance including help with registering with a GP, attending appointments, and understanding the NHS. Where needed, we work alongside interpreters and community representatives to provide culturally sensitive support.
In addition to frontline outreach, we also focus on raising awareness among local healthcare providers about the historical and social context of the Chagossian community. By sharing insights and best practice, we aim to reduce health inequalities and promote inclusion across the wider system.
