Celebrating Refugee Week

This week is Refugee Week, an opportunity to celebrate the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary here in the UK. This year’s theme is #OurHome, aiming to help make communities more welcoming and safe for everyone.

At ABC, we see first hand the contributions that people seeking asylum make through our projects such as community kitchens and our gardening club, which is led by asylum seekers and volunteers.

But whilst incredible work has been achieved, there is always work to do. At this time of year in particular, our teams are working harder than ever to support new arrivals to our hotels who have physical and mental health needs. We would like to thank the many ABC staff who have contributed to this work over the last year, through donations and volunteering their time at our various RASS community groups.

It is also an opportunity to thank all the staff at ABC who support this population, in particular our clinicians and Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service (RASS) team who support asylum seekers living in Sussex hotels, as well as our Equity team who attend to refugees and asylum seekers living in the community.
